WE SEE CHANGE IN ‘YOU’.
America today welcomed its 44th president Barack H Obama to the esteemed White House, making the words of DR.Martin Luther King come true. DR.King had predicted in 1964 that the country will be headed by an African-American president in 40 years time. The inaugural speech of the new president was watched live all over the world, expecting a lot of hope and promises from the democratic leader. He wanted the people to believe, not just in his ability to bring about real change in the United States but also theirs.
Forty- three former presidents have taken the same presidential oath during times of prosperity and still waters of peace, but the present president had to adorn his ruling crown, amidst clouds of economic uncertainty and raging storms of war, conflicting peace and harmony. He accepted that the challenges faced now are many in number and serious in nature; to overcome such crisis hope was chosen rather fear and unity of purpose over conflict and disorder.
He reminded his citizens that they were heading to an ‘era of responsibility’ and to face their duties and overcome issues that are posing dangerously to the entire world. The path taken to pursue their ambitions is now confronted with severe financial disorder, economic instability, a failing health care system and conflicted with the WAR parasite which eats away human life to fulfill its hunger.
"Let it be told to the future world... that in the depth of winter, when nothing but hope and virtue could survive... that the city and the country, alarmed at one common danger, came forth to meet [it]" says the father of the nation.
A nation that rendered Blacks to be slaves and denied them of basic rights, has come a long way accepting a black president in the white house. They have realized that imperialism did not pay off and wanted to perceive positive change for a better well being.
His commitment reads “A house divided itself cannot stand,I believe this government cannot endure permanently half slave and half free.”
Obama captains a wrecked ship in a stormy sea, responsibilities and actions lay on his hands, and he chooses a right direction to take with the help of the lighthouses that guide him always; Hope and Honesty.
